Stages Aero Bar for SC Series Indoor Bikes

The Stages Aero Bar is a specialized aerobar attachment designed to create a Time Trial (TT) or triathlon-style riding position on Stages SC series indoor cycling bikes. Built by Stages Cycling, this accessory allows riders to adopt a forward aerodynamic posture similar to what is used on triathlon aerobars and professional TT bike components.

The Stages Aero Bar mounts directly to the handlebar of compatible Stages indoor bikes, allowing athletes and studio riders to simulate the aerodynamic riding positions commonly used in outdoor racing and endurance cycling.

At Indoor Cycle Pros, we work closely with cycling studios, gyms, and training facilities across the United States that rely on Stages equipment. The Stages Aero Bar provides a practical upgrade for riders who want to incorporate triathlon positioning and aero performance training into their indoor cycling workouts.

You can view full specifications and availability on the Stages Aero Bar product page.

Designed for Triathlon Aerobars and TT Riding Positions

The Stages Aero Bar allows riders to transition from a traditional upright indoor cycling posture to a triathlon-style aero position.

This riding position helps reduce upper body wind resistance in outdoor cycling, but it also offers important benefits for indoor training.

By positioning the rider’s forearms on the extension bars, cyclists can:

  • Simulate real triathlon race posture
  • Practice aerodynamic body positioning
  • Improve sustained power output in aero position
  • Train for Time Trial (TT) cycling events

For triathletes and endurance cyclists, practicing this posture indoors allows them to maintain proper riding form when transitioning to outdoor races.

Adjustable Aero Extensions for Personalized Fit

A key advantage of the Stages Aero Bar is its adjustable aero extension bars, which allow riders to fine-tune their position for comfort and performance.

The design includes:

  • Adjustable aero extensions for reach positioning
  • Ergonomic arm placement for long rides
  • Durable handlebar mounting system
  • Secure endcap installation kit

These adjustable components help riders maintain a stable upper body position while supporting efficient pedaling mechanics.

Because the rider’s forearms are supported by the bars, the upper body can remain relaxed during long endurance rides.

Compatible with Stages SC Series Indoor Bikes

The Stages Aero Bar was engineered specifically for Stages SC series indoor bikes, making installation simple and reliable.

Compatible bikes include:

  • Stages SC1 Indoor Cycle
  • Stages SC2 Indoor Cycle
  • Stages SC3 Indoor Cycle

The aerobar attachment mounts directly to the bike’s handlebar system, allowing studios and athletes to upgrade their equipment without replacing the entire handlebar assembly.

Important compatibility note:

  • Compatible with Stages SC series bikes
  • Not compatible with the Stages SB20 Smart Bike

The Stages SB20 Smart Bike uses a different cockpit and handlebar design, which prevents the aerobar attachment from being installed.

Integrated Stages Cycling Computer Mount

The Stages Aero Bar includes a Stages Cycling computer mount designed to support compatible performance tracking devices.

This mounting system integrates seamlessly with the Stages Dash mounting system, allowing riders to position their cycling computer directly in front of the aero extensions.

Benefits of the integrated mount include:

  • Easy visibility of performance data
  • Clean cockpit layout
  • Secure device positioning
  • Compatible with Stages Dash computers and other mounts

This configuration allows riders to monitor training metrics without lifting their head from the aerodynamic riding position.

Aerodynamic Training for Indoor Cycling Workouts

The ability to train in a true aero position is one of the most valuable benefits of the Stages Aero Bar.

Cyclists preparing for triathlon or time trial racing often need to spend significant training time in their aerodynamic posture. Without an aerobar system, this position cannot be replicated accurately on most indoor bikes.

Using triathlon aerobars indoors allows riders to:

  • Improve endurance in the aero position
  • Train core stability for TT riding
  • Practice efficient breathing posture
  • Maintain consistent aero performance during long intervals

For athletes preparing for endurance races, incorporating aero extension bars into indoor workouts can significantly improve race readiness.

Durable Construction for Studio and Training Use

Indoor cycling environments demand durable equipment capable of handling regular use. The Stages Aero Bar is engineered with robust materials designed for both studio settings and individual training environments.

Key construction features include:

  • Durable extension bars
  • Secure mounting hardware
  • Stable handlebar attachment
  • Commercial-grade reliability

This design ensures the aerobar remains stable during intense workouts while maintaining rider comfort and safety.

For studios offering endurance training or triathlon-focused classes, the Stages Aero Bar adds valuable versatility to their indoor cycling fleet.

Why Athletes Use Aerobars for Training

Aerodynamic positioning plays a critical role in cycling performance. When riders adopt the proper aero posture, they can reduce air resistance while maintaining efficient power output.

Although wind resistance is not a factor indoors, maintaining this posture during training helps riders build muscle memory and core stability.

Benefits of training with aero bars include:

  • Improved endurance in aerodynamic position
  • Better body alignment for racing
  • Increased comfort during long rides
  • More efficient power transfer

This makes the Stages Aero Bar a valuable accessory for cyclists preparing for triathlon events, time trials, or endurance cycling competitions.

How do I replace a Stages Power Meter?

To replace your Stages Power Meter Crank Arm (which includes the entire left crank arm with integrated power meter), follow the step-by-step instructions below using the proper tools and supplies.

🔧 Tools & Supplies Needed

  • 8mm Allen wrench or 8mm Allen socket with ratchet drive (recommended)
  • Park Tool HPG-1 High Performance Grease
  • Park Tool PW-4 Professional Pedal Wrench (or equivalent)
  • Loctite 243 (blue threadlocker)
  • TitanFlex heavy-duty nitrile gloves (or equivalent)

🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Wear Gloves
Put on nitrile gloves to keep grease and threadlocker off your skin.
  2. Remove the Pedal
Use a pedal wrench to remove the pedal from the existing crank arm.
    • Left pedal = reverse-threaded (turn clockwise to loosen)
  3. Remove the Existing Crank Arm
Use an 8mm Allen wrench or socket with ratchet to turn the crank bolt counter-clockwise.

Thread the pedal back into the new crank arm.
    • Left pedal = reverse-threaded (turn counter-clockwise to tighten)
  9. Final Check
Ensure both crank arms are 180° apart, the crank spins smoothly, and all bolts are secure.
What is the best way to clean my Stages bikes?

For the Stages bike frame, use a diluted solution of Simple Green at a ratio of 1:30 (1 part Simple Green to 30 parts water). Spray onto a microfiber cloth and wipe the entire frame including crank covers. Dry with a clean microfiber cloth.

What tools do I need to service a Stages indoor bike?

Stages indoor bikes use only metric tools. Never use fractional tools. For a complete tool guide, email us at sales@indoorcyclepros.com and we’ll provide access to our Stages Bike Tool Kit.
