The Exustar PS8 Pedal is a lightweight cycling pedal system engineered for precision, power transfer, and long-term durability in indoor cycling environments. At Indoor Cycle Pros, we supply studio-proven performance bike pedals built to perform under real-world commercial and residential riding conditions.

Whether you are upgrading worn clipless pedals or installing a new crank arm for pedals to improve performance, the Exustar PS8 Pedal delivers consistent engagement, smooth rotation, and reliable retention.

Lightweight Cycling Pedal System Built for Performance

The Exustar PS8 Pedal features a carbon composite bike pedal body paired with a heat-treated chromoly axle. This design reduces overall weight while maintaining structural integrity under sustained cadence and high torque output.

Key features include:

  • Carbon composite pedal body for reduced weight
  • Oversized chromoly spindle for strength and reduced flex
  • Sealed bearing pedal system for smooth, consistent rotation
  • Adjustable pedal tension system for customized retention
  • Designed for SPD-SL cleats and 3-bolt cleat system compatibility

This pedal supports rhythm-based classes, endurance sessions, and structured interval training where stability and responsiveness matter.

SPD-SL Compatible Pedals with 3-Bolt Cleat System

The Exustar PS8 Pedal is engineered as an SPD-SL compatible pedal using a standard 3-bolt cleat system. Riders using SPD-SL cleats benefit from a wider contact platform, which improves foot stability and maximizes power transfer.

  • Compatible with SPD-SL cleats
  • 3-bolt cleat system platform
  • Secure clipless pedals engagement
  • Adjustable release tension

Unlike entry-level pedals, the PS8 provides consistent float and dependable release tension, improving rider confidence during seated climbs and standing efforts.

Engineered for Commercial Indoor Cycling Environments

Indoor cycling creates unique mechanical stress. High cadence, lateral load, and perspiration exposure can quickly degrade lower-quality pedals.

The Exustar PS8 Pedal is designed with:

  • A sealed bearing pedal system to protect against sweat and debris
  • Corrosion-resistant construction
  • Reinforced 9/16" axle threading
  • Smooth cleat engagement and stable retention

Since 2017, Indoor Cycle Pros has supplied commercial-grade indoor cycling components across the United States and internationally. We understand how critical pedal reliability is in studio settings where equipment failure affects both safety and rider experience.

This is not a generic consumer pedal. It is a performance-focused solution built for consistent, high-use indoor cycling.

Universal 9/16" Compatibility

The Exustar PS8 Pedal uses standard 9/16" threading, making it compatible with:

  • Stages SC1 Indoor cycles
  • Stages SC2 Indoor cycles
  • Stages SC3 Indoor cycles
  • Most commercial Indoor cycling bikes
  • Most residential indoor cycling bikes with 9/16" crank arms

The universal threading allows for straightforward installation without modification. It serves as a reliable SPD-SL upgrade for Stages bikes and other compatible platforms.

Why Pedal Quality Directly Impacts Ride Performance

Pedals are one of the highest-wear components on any indoor cycle. Inferior clipless pedals often develop bearing play, axle fatigue, inconsistent cleat engagement, and premature failure.

Upgrading to a precision-engineered lightweight cycling pedal system like the Exustar PS8 helps:

  • Improve rotational smoothness
  • Maintain stable power transfer
  • Reduce long-term maintenance costs
  • Minimize downtime in studio environments

For homeowners and studio operators alike, investing in high-quality performance bike pedals enhances both ride feel and long-term equipment reliability.

SC3 Highlight: Blue FitLoc™ levers, RoadBar™ handlebars, EcoSCRN console, and built-in power meter.

What pedal comes with a Stages bike?

Each Stages bike includes a dual function pedal that offers both SPD cleat compatibility on one side and a toe cage with an adjustable strap for standard athletic shoes.

Can I add a Stages Display Console to a Stages SC2 indoor cycle?

No, the Stages Display Console is only compatible with the Stages SC3, which contains the required internal generator. The Stages SC2 does not support console connectivity.

Can I upgrade the height adjustment Stages FitLoc Lever on my Stages bikes to the Stages Pop-Pin with Knob?

Yes, you can upgrade your Stages FitLoc Lever to the Stages Pop-Pin with Knob! You will need a 2mm Allen, a 2.5mm Allen, and a 3mm ball-end Allen wrench.

How do I replace a Stages Power Meter?

To replace your Stages Power Meter Crank Arm (which includes the entire left crank arm with integrated power meter), follow the step-by-step instructions below using the proper tools and supplies.

🔧 Tools & Supplies Needed

  • 8mm Allen wrench or 8mm Allen socket with ratchet drive (recommended)
  • Park Tool HPG-1 High Performance Grease
  • Park Tool PW-4 Professional Pedal Wrench (or equivalent)
  • Loctite 243 (blue threadlocker)
  • TitanFlex heavy-duty nitrile gloves (or equivalent)

🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Wear Gloves
Put on nitrile gloves to keep grease and threadlocker off your skin.
  2. Remove the Pedal
Use a pedal wrench to remove the pedal from the existing crank arm.
    • Left pedal = reverse-threaded (turn clockwise to loosen)
  3. Remove the Existing Crank Arm
Use an 8mm Allen wrench or socket with ratchet to turn the crank bolt counter-clockwise.
    • This is a self-extracting bolt — it will loosen and automatically remove the crank arm.
  4. Clean the Spindle
Wipe the bottom bracket spindle's splines and internal threads clean using a dry cloth.
  5. Apply Grease and Threadlocker
Apply a thin coat of Park Tool HPG-1 grease to the spindle splines and a small drop of Loctite 243 to the internal threads of the spindle.
  6. Install the New Stages Power Meter Crank Arm
Slide the new crank arm onto the spindle so it is 180° opposite the right crank arm.
  7. Tighten the Crank Bolt
Thread the crank bolt in by hand, then firmly tighten with your 8mm wrench or ratchet.
  8. Reinstall the Pedal
Thread the pedal back into the new crank arm.
    • Left pedal = reverse-threaded (turn counter-clockwise to tighten)
  9. Final Check
Ensure both crank arms are 180° apart, the crank spins smoothly, and all bolts are secure.
What is the best way to clean my Stages bikes?

For the Stages bike frame, use a diluted solution of Simple Green at a ratio of 1:30 (1 part Simple Green to 30 parts water). Spray onto a microfiber cloth and wipe the entire frame including crank covers. Dry with a clean microfiber cloth.

What tools do I need to service a Stages indoor bike?

Stages indoor bikes use only metric tools. Never use fractional tools. For a complete tool guide, email us at sales@indoorcyclepros.com and we’ll provide access to our Stages Bike Tool Kit.

How do I adjust the saddle angle on my Stages indoor bike?

Use a 13mm open end wrench or 13mm socket with ratchet to loosen each side of the saddle clamp, make your adjustment, then re-tighten evenly. Check out our Stages saddles collection.

How do I replace the batteries in my Stages Power Meter?

Use a quality #0 Phillips screwdriver to remove the tiny screws on the battery cover of your Stages Power Meter. Replace the AA batteries, ensuring the correct +/− orientation. For a tighter fit, wrap a layer of electrical tape around each battery.

How do I know if my Stages Power Meter needs to be replaced?
